Two fabulous judges will see your entries. They're writer/ illustrator Gavin Bishop and teacher/artist Gretchen Bulwalda.
Gavin Bishop
Gavin has won numerous national and international awards for his distinctive ink and watercolour illustrations and his original text.
His illustrations have been exhibited at international shows from Japan to Czechoslovakia, and he has appeared as a teacher and guest speaker at many international forums. He has been commissioned to write and design several successful ballets for the Royal NZ Ballet Company and was awarded the prestigious Margaret Mahy Award in 2008.
Piano Rock, published in 2008, serves as Bishop's early autobiography, full of tales and illustrations of his childhood years in the railway town of Kingston. The Storylines Gavin Bishop Award was established in 2009 in recognition of his contribution to children's literature.
His many books include Mrs McGinty and the Bizarre Plant, Snake and Lizard (with Joy Cowley), and Taming the Sun - Four Maori Myths.

Gretchen Bulwalda
Gretchen has taught art in primary schools for more than 20 years, and now leads the highly regarded art programme at Island Bay Primary School in Wellington. She works with up to 30 children a day, which she finds challenging, stimulating and rewarding, learning as much from the children as they do from her.
In her own right, she is an established artist.
